Step One :  Fully Commit

It’s so important to take any genre seriously, try and dive in deep, really immerse yourself in the world of the story, and the genre. Watch more TV - see more movies! Get it into the blood and under the skin. Dive deep...

BUT

Sometimes the situations these characters find themselves in can feel very unreal - over the top - so it’s vital you FULLY invest and believe.

Expert acting tip - Stay clear of commenting or judging the material.

Think - "This is really happening to me..."

Dig deep and find your character’s objectives, hopes, fears, strengths, and weaknesses, so that your performance remains rooted in reality.  Be real.

Step Two : Discover Your Moments.

All thrillers, horror films, and supernatural TV stories rely on surprise and suspense, so NEVER fall into the trap of playing the the end of the scene at the beginning - what you may have heard called the RESULTS of the scene.

A teacher of mine said MOOD spelled backwards is DOOM!

If your character is the Innocent One who is just about to walk into the room where the crazy serial killer is - do not SHOW you know. Always allow your characters to be human - in the moment - let them be fully taken by surprise.

Avoid commenting or judging...pls...

3. Let go Stay in the moment - Be True. Be Real. Always.
